Ryan Smith, pitcher and short stop,  for Hazard Baseball, signs with Florence-Darlington Tech. in South Carolina.  It has been a dream of Ryan’s to advance his baseball career to the next level.  Some of accomplishments include: 2 time 14th Region Champion, All-A State Runner-up 2016, State Quarter finalist 2014 and 2016, MVP 14th Region 2016.  So, to say that we wanted to incorporate baseball into his senior portraits was an understatement. But, Ryan is much more than a baseball player. He is funny, friendly, emotional, and wears his heart on his sleeve.

To watch him play any sport is feel what he is feeling. It has been a pleasure watching him grow up, watching him play a sport he loves, and photographing him along the way. Congratulations on your scholarship Ryan!!!!!!!!

You must look INTO people, as well as AT them. This task was easy with senior, Cassidy Ray.  Her session was inspired by romantic, billowy lace, fur, delicate details that FORCE the viewer to stop and stare. We also photographed her in her prom dress because I never grow tired of pink sequins. With a full length mirror in a field of wispy weeds, Cassidy became the subject dreams are made of.
It becomes impossible for me to NOT shoot images with black and white retouching in mind. I love the use of triangles, angles, and solid black or white clothing in my studio’s window light.  The soft morning and afternoon light lends itself to a beautiful subject like Cassidy.

Meet Ali Blackburn!  She has a LOVE for flowers and all things nature, so this little pink dress was the perfect accessory to a bundle of pink roses and hydrangeas.  Of course the STAR of this shoot was really Ali’s GORGEOUS CURLS!  I MEAN SERIOUSLY. She just “tousles it and goes.”  How can this be fair?  I’ve spent my life with a curling iron and have never come close to perfecting such golden spirals of bounce.!!!!!   Ali only shampoo’s twice a week and adds her favorite conditioner from Walmart, Ren Pure` Originals, Coconut Cream.

Ali said she loved the entire senior portrait experience, from the natural shoot to hanging out with me and my sister, Lauren.  LOL.    In her free time, Ali is very into art, like Picasso and Frida and she likes to incorporate their styles into her paintings.  Aside from her art and her favorite sound, listening to her pug snore, Ali plans to attend College at Big Sandy for two years then transfer to a University to pursue a major!  Good luck Ali. We LOVED getting to photograph your senior portraits!
