Each couple’s prom style is unique and fits their own personality,  but Eden Slone and Levi Bolen’s idea of mixing vintage with classic  made me swoon! Eden’s gown was designed by Tarik Ediz, shoes by Christian Louboutin, and her perfect clutch from Kate Spade.  The dress, handsome date, adorable accessories and vintage 1950 F 100 Ford Truck made this stylized prom session a tough act to follow!

If you don’t own a denim jacket then you must go buy one, NOW!  It can be worn in any season, and looks great either dressed up, or down.  Rose, my senior model for this look just holds it in her arms and instantly transforms this little dress she’s wearing.

Another way to wear the denim jacket is with something super dressy, like a ball gown or prom dress. 🙂  Here we have the gorgeous McKenna Collins in a denim jacket and Sherri Hill skirt.

Denim tops are also popular, flowy, romantic, and pop during any season. I loved photographing this top because the bright indigo color meshed perfectly with the leaves.  Oh, and if you have blue eyes too, #winning !

Cutoffs, every Eastern Kentucky girl has a pair she loves.

Skinny jeans with bling is one of my favorite ways to incorporate denim!

Jeans and a Fedora = Fedorable

Color dyed denim is OH SO luscious when paired with soft colors on top.  Here is an olive color denim.

Olive colored denim also looks great with a bold color like red, here paired with a Sherri Hill sequined top.

You can’t go wrong with denim and plaid in Eastern Kentucky . . . A denim dress keeps the look casual but flirty and fun.

A denim romper at Sunset is the perfect way to show off great legs!Another denim romper with gorgeous accessories . . .

A long sleeved denim romper was perfect for this fall day and cute ankle boots. Low rise jeans with a belt is classic or vintage, depending on the top.  Here, a black one-piece seals the deal.

Jeans with rips and holes are something almost every girl has in her closet.  Here’s a classy way to wear rips and holes. LOL

Denim on denim is awesome as well, just stick to opposite tones so you don’t look like you have on a uniform.

Logan Sizemore, one of my favorite people, he’s a character to say the least.  I have always looked forward to capturing his ages and stages, and even though it makes me sad he is growing into a fine young man, I am going to enjoy this “middle school” stage as well.  Gone is his baby voice, replaced by a confident, upbeat voice that blesses people wherever he goes and leaves me rolling on the floor laughing every time we get together. Click here to see a past session. Get ready for cuteness overload.

Here are some of Logan’s accomplishments in school this year! He was on the Principal’s Honor Roll all year again, he received Math, Science, Reading, Spelling, Social Studies, English and Attendance awards. He also got highest GPA in English & Social Studies!

Logan loves history so it’s no surprise he is also very civic minded, serving his community by saying the “Pledge of Allegiance” at Relay for Life, and my favorite story . . .

Over the last 7 months, LOGAN has been collecting pop tabs for the Shriners Hospital. In early April, his parents, Laura and Daniel took him to the local meeting where he turned them in to Leslie Co. Shrine Club President, Frank Baker. It was estimated that he had collected over 20,000 tabs. The tabs were taken to the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital Burn Unit where they will be used to help purchase medical and non-medical supplies for kids in the hospital there.

Wow, this young man makes me want to be a better person. I’m so thankful for the young people I meet and get to know and love through photography.   Here’s a look at our latest session.

What can I say about Taylor Williams?  Let’s start with the obvious.  She throws kindness around like confetti, her laughter is contagious to the point where she and the people around her get “shushed”, her success doesn’t just come find her, she goes out and gets it, AND she chooses to be herself.  Taylor has a pretty amazing life.  The only challenges in her life are the ones she’s not yet met.   Taylor’s a Christian, a Republican, a mathmatition. She’s a Bulldog and decided yesterday she will soon be a Kentucky Wildcat!

Taylor is one of the smartest people I know.   She will be attending University of Kentucky on a full Singletary Scholarship, one of about 20 incoming freshman recipients at UK.  She has been accepted at Yale and Vanderbilt, and is declining her acceptance so she can continue her education in Kentucky and reside in the state she is beyond passionate about.    Her academic life speaks for itself.  She received a 34 on the ACT, will be Valedictorian at Hazard High School on May 21, at the Class of 2017 Graduation Ceremony.  She will be ” Teen of the Year” tonight at Hazard’s Annual Civic Night. She has introduced a Bill to the House about standardizing the grading scale across Kentucky.  I assume when you have a 4.0 one would want to make sure other people having a 4.0 have the same grading scale.  Not all A’s are created equal.  🙂  Taylor is a National Merit Commended Student and a Coca Cola Scholarship Semi-Finalist.

I have had the pleasure of photographing Taylor since she was 4 years old.  She was one of my very first subjects outside my own family.  I have been lucky enough to watch her grow from a little girl into a beautiful young woman.  She is truly going to set the world on fire.  I can’t begin to list all the ways she has touched the lives of all who know her including her teachers, classmates, family members, and photographer.

In shooting Taylor’s senior portraits, we have done a plethora of locations, outfits, themes, concepts, etc. We wanted to show off who she has become and where she is going.  Taylor wanted to feature some of the highlights of her senior year like cheerleading and leading the “Bulldog Prayer” when needed.  In her own words, “My senior trip was an absolute blast and I love my class  and everything about being at Hazard.”

Here are some of my favorite images from 4 sessions we’ve done together just this year.

Don’t look back Tay!  You friends and family will always be just around the corner.  Good Luck in the next phase of your adventurous life!!!!!!!

Bethany Smith, Senior at Pikeville High School, spent her childhood listening to all kinds of music.  She was raised on Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Elton John, Bob Segar, Simon & Garfunkel, Prince, Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, The Bee Gee’s and well, you get the picture.

To say that Bethany loves music, frankly, that’s an understatement.  To say that she wanted her senior portrait session to be inspired by the music she loves, well, that was music to my ears.

Bethany loves the 70’s simpler times, peace movements, positive body images, and the style of the clothing.  Inspired by the flowing layers, bell bottoms, peasant shirts,  high waisted pants, and the beautiful voice of the Queen, Stevie Nicks, we decided the BOHO style was the best way for Bethany to express herself. Her uniqueness is a common thread through her images. Her individuality shines through.

Bethany plans on attending EKU in the next few years to major in Chemistry, Biology or Psychology with the end goal of being a Psychiatrist. Thanks for looking at her session.
